YWCA Book Club – Our April Read!

Our next Book Club Meeting will take place on Tuesday, 25th April 2017 at 7.30PM  in YWCA Ireland, 64 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2.

Our April Read: Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

“Daring Greatly is not about winning or losing. It’s about courage. In a world where “never enough” dominates and feeling afraid has become second nature, vulnerability is subversive. Uncomfortable. It’s even a little dangerous at times. And, without question, putting ourselves out there means there’s a far greater risk of getting criticized or feeling hurt. But when we step back and examine our lives, we will find that nothing is as uncomfortable, dangerous, and hurtful as standing on the outside of our lives looking in and wondering what it would be like if we had the courage to step into the arena—whether it’s a new relationship, an important meeting, the creative process, or a difficult family conversation. Daring Greatly is a practice and a powerful new vision for letting ourselves be seen”.

About the YWCA Book Club
Established in March 2017, the YWCA  book club is a place for women to gather together in a safe space to discuss books, ideas, and authors that matter. We might not always agree, but in a safe space all opinions are relevant and are heard.

We’ll read for pleasure and with purpose. We’ll read books from diverse genres, including fiction, memoir and poetry. We’ll read books by women from a wide variety of backgrounds and eras. We’ll read books that stretch us and grow us into understanding. Together, we’ll grapple with hard questions and wrestle with the realities of faith.

Most of all we will enjoy reading with each other!

How does it work?
1. We’ll announce the book we will be reading at least 1 month in advance of each book club meeting so you have time to purchase online or pick it up in your local book shop.
2. Read the book!
3. Come along to book club and enjoy good company, good chat and great coffee!
